Handball World Championship 2027 — prediction game

From 13 to 31 January 2027 Germany hosts the Handball World Championship: the opening match in Munich, group stage in Stuttgart, Kiel and Magdeburg, main round in Cologne and Hanover, the final on 31 January at the LANXESS arena. Three weeks in which handball is not a niche but prime time.

For a company prediction game a home World Championship is what a product launch would like to be: a date your customers already have in their calendar. You do not have to create attention — you only have to be where everyone is looking anyway.

The competition

32 teams, six venues, three weeks: the group stage runs in parallel in Munich, Stuttgart, Kiel and Magdeburg with two groups of four each. The main round then moves to Cologne and Hanover, and from the quarter-finals everything is decided at the LANXESS arena.

For your planning that is the real point: the occasion is fixed long before you need it. Opening match on 13 January, quarter-finals on 26 and 27, semi-finals on 29, the final on 31 January. You know today which days in January 2027 your customers will be looking at your page — and can line up prizes, product placement and sponsor appearances accordingly.

On top of that comes a window with little resistance: in mid-January the football Bundesliga is still in its winter break or only just back. Anyone looking for attention in these weeks is not competing with nine matches on a Saturday afternoon.

Why a Handball World Championship 2027 prediction game?

A tournament on the doorstep

Six venues across the country — Munich, Stuttgart, Kiel, Magdeburg, Hanover, Cologne. For regionally rooted brands a home World Championship is not a television event but one in the neighbourhood.

Three weeks of compression

A tournament compresses what a season stretches out: in the group stage there is play almost every day — and therefore predicting almost every day.

A design template just for handball

Kreisraum is built for exactly this: an indoor court instead of a pitch, throw-off instead of kick-off, a prediction field up to 60 goals. Your World Championship page looks like handball — and like your brand.

How it plays out

A tournament ticks differently from a league: instead of one matchday a week, the group stage plays almost every day. Here is how that looks on your page.

  1. From 13 January: an occasion almost every day

The groups run in parallel across four cities. Predictions stay open until the throw-off of each individual match — with several fixtures a day that means several deadlines, several visits, for three weeks.

  2. While the match runs, the table keeps up

The score arrives, points and standings move with it. At 25 to 35 goals per team a prediction round can still flip in the closing minutes — and that is when your participants stay rather than drop in.

  3. Main round and quarter-finals: it gets tight

From Cologne and Hanover the main round moves straight into the knockout stage: the quarter-finals on 26 and 27 January decide who reaches the semi-finals — in the tournament and in your prediction round. Anyone who slept through the group stage can still turn it around here. That is the moment the hesitant ones start predicting again.

  4. Final weekend: the peak

Semi-finals on Friday, gold and bronze on Sunday: three weeks of predictions are decided over two days in Cologne. Afterwards you know your winners — and your participants know your brand.

What your participants find here

What your participants find during the World Championship is tailored to handball, not carried over from football. For three weeks each of these functions gives a reason to look in once more — in your colours, next to your products.

Frequently asked questions

When is the 2027 Handball World Championship and where is it played?

From 13 to 31 January 2027 in Germany. Group stage in Munich, Stuttgart, Kiel and Magdeburg, main round in Cologne and Hanover, final round at the LANXESS arena Cologne — the final on 31 January.

Why start now rather than in January 2027?

Because a prediction round needs participants, not just a date. Anyone starting with the Handball Bundesliga in autumn goes into the World Championship with a full field — instead of starting from zero in January and finding out three weeks later that sign-up took longer than the tournament.

Does a handball prediction game look like a football one?

No. Kreisraum is a design template built for handball: an indoor court, throw-off vocabulary, a prediction field up to 60 goals. And like every template it runs entirely in your corporate design.

Where do fixtures and results come from?

Through our interface — imported automatically and kept up to date, from the group stage to the final. You maintain nothing by hand.

Does it fit a running football prediction game?

Very well: from the Max package several competitions run in parallel. The World Championship is the winter highlight, your league prediction game keeps running alongside it — same participants, same domain.

What happens after the final?

The occasion ends, the participants stay: from Max you chain the World Championship straight into the next competition — back into the Handball Bundesliga or across to the football second half — without anyone signing up again.
